I used to breathe to bring myself up from the past and pull myself in from the future. To land in the present moment, where depression can't exist and either can anxiety. It was exactly what I needed in that first season of my healing journey and I was bypassing the truth that we discover through what we feel in the body.
Over time, through the breath, came awareness and that awareness became deeper and deeper. I believe that awareness really is 99 per cent of our work, isn't is? What we aren't aware of and what we don't feel, we can't shift and heal.
Over the last couple of years, I began to use the breath as a gentle exploration into the body. An Alchemy practice that is a somatic meditation that helps us anchor ourselves with the breath, turn into the body and attune to our felt sense. Wandering beyond thought and emotion into the sensations of the body where all of our life experiences are archived and valuable information and wisdom lies. Breathing here, staying curious here, being here, feeling here. Experiencing the magical process of transformation. ALCHEMY.
I have since transformed decades of holding patterns, explored shame and anger and fear that have lingered in dark corners of my being and softened spaces into love... All through the breath. Through this gentle and powerful process.
This practice helps us to move out of our head and learn to FEEL again and to live from here. It will expand your capacity to be present, deepen your sense of awareness and heighten your insight and intuition. It will create an authentic connection to yourself.
And it takes patience and practice and curiosity. We're learning to feel fully again, maybe even learning to feel anything and maybe only for a brief moment... each time we can stay longer, learning to pay attention in a new way, to cultivate greater awareness.
We can go further into the practice by learning to speak from this inner space through the felt sensations in the body that becomes the purest and most truthful expression of our deepest awareness and presence.
Beyond that, we can develop and strengthen what we don't often humanly perceive. We can deepen our intuition and connect to a high wisdom and make decisions and live by such an innate knowing.
